I am excited to check out my local Kohl’s holiday/employee appreciation party at Kings Skate tonight! I heard they’re giving out awards, recognition, free food, and free skating! Let’s see what happens tonight!
So for the week of December 14-21, I’ve worked 40 hours! As a top credit POS Associate, I figured they’d schedule me as many hours as possible for me! I remember the admin asking me if I was able to open up my availability now that school is over, and when I said yes, he immediately pushed my 15 hour week to 40. For the week of December 22-29, I’ve worked just under 40 hours: 38. Looks like I’ll be enjoying big pay checks these next couple of weeks!
Today was a really busy day! I worked the 8am-4pm shift, and around 12pm the line seemed like it will never end! We had lines stretching past the Rock’n’Republic strike point and wrapped into classics! The good thing about this is that time went by really fast. I did okay on credit today; I got 6 credits. It’s funny how everyone gets a 20% off coupon and opening a Kohl’s Charge gives you access to only 20%. It’s tough to get people to sign up, but I was still able to catch those who were not aware of the 20% off coupon.
On December 23, 2012, I’ve racked up 16 credits in an 8 hour shift. That is amazing and is the most I’ve ever had in one day, and it ties the amount I’ve gotten on Black Friday! My name was posted in the break room as #1 Associate of the Day on December 23, 2012 that read: 1. Andre - 16. The second place associate got 15 and she was competing with me the whole way. I was on fire that day and I even got someone to open up a Kohl’s Charge, even though he wouldn’t save anything since he was only getting a Kohl’s Gift Card.
There’s only so many hours in a day, and although I spend a lot of time working, it’s great to make some money to get what you want!
August 18 Update
First of all I’d like to tell my followers that I’ve been feeling great physically and emotionally due to my dedication on diet and exercise. I got addicted to running/jogging in the mornings and I’ve been making sure to do that every day before working at Kohl’s. I’ve been doing this for the last week, and I’ve already seen (and feel) some great results to my body. I have more energy, feel less hungry, and best of all, look amazing.
My past shifts have been really good for me statistics wise. I have always accumulated AT LEAST 8 credit solicitations during the past 7 shifts. A couple of shifts I had over 10 credits. I received my paycheck on August 17and received over $50 in credit incentives. Add Superstar of the Month bonus and that’s a pretty paycheck! Everyone in Kohl’s is seriously taking notice now that I get a lot of credit. I am giving Santhi (the credit queen) a real run for her money!
I love working at Kohl’s, especially when management treats me right. The coworkers are great (for the most part).Found out there’s a lot of drama between coworkers of different levels and kinds. Girl likes this guy at POS, Guy trying to get at a boss, girl getting desperate asking a lot of guys to be with her, making up stuff, ETC ETC. It maybe a bad thing, but I do agree that it definitely is entertainment and as long as you’re not too involved in it, it really spices up my shift. I myself cannot stand to work with a certain coworker, although we both do not make it a big deal.Either way, I’ve grown over the years to realize that not everyone will like you. Behind every successful personare haters, and if you don’t have any, then you’re not doing it right.
“E3: Guys, we are still 2nd place behind Roseville. We are at 10 credits, and Andre has all 10. We need all POS
to participate and solicit credit please!! ” LOL. Because of this, I can choose to wear Jeans next shift! Haha.
Welps, today marks the day I get my first official OCCURRENCE since being hired at Kohl’s. My shift today is scheduled for 8am - 4pm. I knew that going in, but my alarm failed me after I knocked out at 2AM the previous night. I end up waking up at 8:22AM when my 02 boss called me on my cell phone.
02: Hi is this Andre?
Me: Oh yes Hi!
02: Are you still coming to work today?
Me: Yes Yes,…I’ll be there. I’m on my way!”
02: Ok bye!
I quickly rushed to get washed and dressed up for work. This NEVER happened to me before. Sucks so bad, because I felt like I let my co-workers down. Thankfully I had David, the 2-6, cover the registers while I was still going there. Turns out that from the time I was late to my shift, NO CUSTOMERS were rung up, so in essence I didn’t miss anything. I ended up clocking in at 8:39AM, 39 minutes late. WOW. #fail
Bright side is though, that no one gave me a hard time about it. My 02 talked to me a few times today but all was small talk and nothing about my tardy. She asked if I was okay and she wanted me to refer her some people who “are just like me” so they can get hired! I hope this doesn’t go to my permanent record or that blablabla stuff.

I decided to man up and apply for a Kohl’s Charge. It seemed like the perfect time because I fell in love with the Docker’s slim fit work pants that Kohl’s sells, and I needed new pairs for work.
I GOT APPROVED! $400 credit limit; not bad at all! Saved 30% + 15% associate discount. I love it.
